JONESBORO, Ark. — St. Bernards Healthcare will add 20 physicians in 2025, expanding or introducing 10 medical specialties across northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri, the health system announced.
The incoming class includes both newly trained doctors and veteran physicians with decades of experience. Nearly one in five have roots in Arkansas or West Tennessee, and 70% completed medical education or training in the region.
St. Bernards highlighted several specialties being added or expanded:
- Hand surgery services, which were previously unavailable in the region.
- Neurosurgery, which will triple the capacity of the area’s only full-service provider for brain, spine and nerve conditions.
- Neonatology, enhancing the capabilities of the region’s most comprehensive neonatal intensive care unit.
- Radiation oncology, provided at St. Bernards Medical Center — Arkansas’s only hospital accredited by the American College of Radiation Oncology.
Other specialties include orthopedics, pulmonary and critical care, ear, nose and throat, pathology, urgent care, emergency medicine, surgery and hospital medicine.
The announcement builds on St. Bernards’ addition of 18 physicians in 2024. Over the past five years, the healthcare system has recruited 94 doctors and reported strong retention rates.
