JONESBORO, Ark. — A man is accused of stabbing a woman six times, sending her to the hospital in Jonesboro.
On April 26, Jonesboro officers responded to NEA Baptist about a female victim with multiple stab wounds, according to the probable cause affidavit. Officers arrived and spoke with the alleged victim, who said her child’s father had stabbed her. He was at the hospital with her and was taken into custody.
Officers continued speaking with the victim, who said she had been in an argument with the defendant, leading to him stabbing her multiple times.
A witness said the victim came running to her house for help. She said that the suspect followed her, and the victim began to walk back toward her apartment, but then turned and began walking back to her. That’s when the suspect ran up behind her and “appeared to be hitting her on the shoulder and back,” but she then noticed excessive amounts of blood.
The defendant appeared to have dropped the knife because the witness saw him lean over and pick it up. The affidavit said she convinced him to hand it over.
Another neighbor gave both a ride to the hospital. According to that person, the suspect told the victim he was sorry on the ride.
The victim had six stab wounds to the right side of her body.
Henvanta Dashawn Davis, 22, of Jonesboro, was arrested for First-Degree Domestic Battering, a Class B felony.
On Monday, April 28, Judge Tommy Fowler set bail at $100,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order was put into place, and an ankle monitor was required. Davis is next scheduled in court on June 27.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
