JONESBORO, Ark. – A Jonesboro man is facing charges after police say he admitted to possessing and viewing child sexual abuse material linked to an online account.
In February, the Jonesboro Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Division received a cyber tip regarding explicit material uploaded to a Dropbox account. Following a search warrant, Dropbox turned over account details and media files. Investigators say they found 134 images of young children, 39 of which depicted juvenile females involved in sexual acts.
Detectives traced the uploads to a residence on Murray Creek Drive. On April 14, the ICAC Division, along with the Street Crimes Unit, executed a search warrant at the home and took Matthew Scott into custody.
During an interview, authorities say Scott admitted ownership of the Dropbox account and acknowledged viewing child sexual abuse material as recently as the previous week. He also confirmed the presence of such material on one of his phones.
Scott was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center and charged with Possession or Use of Child Sexual Abuse Material. Judge Boling set his bond at $50,000 cash or surety.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
