JONESBORO, Ark. — A woman is facing felony charges for alleged theft from a business over several years in Craighead County.
Amber Michelle Williams, 35, of Jonesboro, was arrested at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29 for Theft of $25,000 or More, a Class B felony, and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, a Class C felony.
The probable cause affidavit from the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office states that Williams was employed at BP Fabrications LLC from January 12, 2021, through October 2, 2024. While employed as a financial controller, Williams had access to business checking accounts and credit cards.
A review of the BP Fabrication accounts revealed Williams allegedly issued checks to herself and/or her personal business. The checks were more than $25,000.
In addition, Williams used company credit cards to pay for Verizon bills, AirBNB expenses, tires for her personal vehicle, and rent payments, the affidavit said.
“The total of the above-listed transactions was in excess of $39,999,” wrote David Bailey, the investigating detective with the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office.
Search warrants were issued on Williams’ bank accounts. The accounts verified the theft from the BP Fabrication accounts, according to the affidavit.
On Monday, Jan. 27, Circuit Judge Scott Ellington signed an arrest warrant for Williams.
Williams appeared before Judge Tommy Fowler Wednesday afternoon for her probable cause hearing. Judge Fowler noted that bail for Class B felonies normally starts at $75,000. Williams was represented by Bill Stanley, who argued for a $10,000 bond by bringing up that she is the wife of a Jonesboro Police Department officer. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Bryce Cook initially asked for a $25,000 bond with a GPS ankle monitor, even noting she had a past FTA charge, but he lowered his request to $10,000. With both sides agreeing, the judge set bail at $10,000 cash or surety.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
