Man Accused of Punching Wife on Christmas

PARAGOULD, Ark. — An argument fueled by alcohol ended with one person in handcuffs on Christmas day in Paragould.

On Dec. 25, 2024, the Paragould Police Department was dispatched to Greg Drive about an intoxicated person, according to the probable cause affidavit. Officers arrived and spoke with Moses Paige who stated his wife was inside the couple’s residence “drunk and causing an argument.” Paige stated his wife had been drinking whiskey and starting arguments with him, with the affidavit adding that he wanted her to leave.

Officers then spoke with the wife. She told police she and Paige had gotten into an argument due to him wanting her to leave. While talking to her, the officer noted red marks and bleeding from her right cheek area. The wife refused medical treatment, police reported.

The officer inquired how the injury happened and at first, she stated she didn’t know, but the affidavit said she stated Paige had punched her one time with a closed fist while the pair were arguing.

Police arrested Moses Paige, 66, for third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor. Jail records show a $5,000 bond set for his release.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
