Man Allegedly Texted Threats to Paragould Woman, Showed Up at Office Armed

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A man is being held on a felony charge after police say he threatened to kill a woman and showed up at her office while in possession of a gun.

Devarious Woodland, 28, of Paragould, is in Greene County Detention Center facing a charge of first degree terroristic threatening, a felony.

Officers were dispatched to a local business in Paragould on Monday, August 5, in reference to an unwanted person, according to the probable cause affidavit. Police arrived and were told that the suspect was in the parking lot and would not leave.

As officers continued to investigate, they learned from the alleged victim that the suspect had sent her messages that he was going to kill her. When officers took the suspect into custody, they reported he had a firearm in his possession.

Woodland was interviewed and according to police, he waived his Miranda rights and admitted to sending the messages.

On Tuesday, Judge Dan Stidham set a $25,000 cash only bond requirement for Woodland’s release. The judge also ordered no contact with the victim and ordered the defendant not to possess any weapons.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
