PARAGOULD, Ark. – A man is being charged with a felony in the brutal killing of a dog in Greene County.
Adam McClung, 32, of Paragould faces two felony charges including aggravated cruelty to a dog, cat, or equine, a Class D felony, and terroristic threatening, also a Class D felony.
In the probable cause affidavit released on Wednesday, March 20, police say that on February 29, Paragould officers were dispatched to N. 5th Street over an animal cruelty call. Witnesses told police McClung came to their house and killed their dog on the front porch. The witnesses said McClung threw the dog against the wall of the house and began stomping on the dog’s head.
After killing the dog, the witnesses stated McClung tried entering their house and began threatening to kill them, too. Fortunately, he wasn’t successful. He fled the scene prior to officers arriving.
Animal control collected the deceased animal.
Judge Dan Stidham found probable cause sufficient to hold McClung in the case. Bond was set at $25,000 prior to McClung’s release.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
