Inmate Death at Greene County Jail Under Investigation

PARAGOULD, Ark. – The death of a jail inmate in Greene County has sparked an investigation by authorities to learn more about what happened.

At about 6:20 PM on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, an inmate housed in an isolation cell of the Greene County Detention Center was found unresponsive during a wellness check, a press release from Sheriff Brad Snyder said.

Our facility’s medical staff responded within seconds to assess the inmate and begin care while Fire/EMS were notified by jail staff.

Firefighters and emergency medical services arrived at the detention center and transported him to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Shortly after arriving, the inmate was pronounced dead.

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division, Company F, was contacted by the sheriff to begin an investigation into the incident, which is standard in these incidents. Also standard, the inmate’s body is being sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for examination and to determine the cause of death.

The identity of the inmate has not been released yet, pending notification of next of kin.

  1. Greene County Sheriff has done updates on other stories on Facebook page, but absolutely nothing updated on this since original post. Sounds like facts are being hidden.
