BROOKLAND, Ark. – A major fire sent multiple departments to a Brookland apartment complex Friday morning in Craighead County.
At 10:10 AM, the Brookland Police Department was on scene with multiple other first responding agencies as fire crews battle a fire at the Whitten Creek Apartment Complex in Brookland, Detective Dustin Norwood informed the media. At 11:48 AM, Norwood said that responders were still on the scene.

Authorities were asking that individuals avoid travel in the area of West School Street in Brookland due to it being closed as a result of the fire. As of 11:48 AM, West School Street is back open.
In addition, any citizens who live in the complex are reminded to remain mindful of any water that is in the parking lot or on sidewalks, as it is freezing almost immediately due to the cold temperature.
At this time, Connections Point Church on West School St. and Brookland Baptist Church on North Oak St. are open for people displaced from the fire.
