CLEBURNE COUNTY, Ark. – Human remains were found on Dec 31, 2023 in the wildlife management area near Warren Mountain Road in Wilburn, Ark, a press release from the sheriff’s office said
An individual, accompanied by a pet, stumbled upon a partial human skeleton while exploring the vicinity.
Detectives responded to the scene to process the area, a press release issued January 8 said. The complainant advised that just prior to finding the skeleton, her dog had located a gun a short distance away from where she discovered the skeleton.
The sheriff noted it is unknown at this time whether the two are related, simply because of the distance between the gun and the remains.
The skeleton was sent to the crime lab for DNA and other testing, along with the gun.
The sheriff’s office said more information would be released as the investigation advances.
