JONESBORO, Ark. – An Arkansas man was arrested in Jonesboro this week following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of methamphetamine and an outstanding arrest warrant.
The incident occurred between 8:14 AM and 9:15 AM on Dec. 11 near the intersection of Southwest Drive and W. Stroud Street. Officers noticed a gold Chrysler Town and Country traveling East at the Intersection Of Southwest Dr / W Stroud St bearing a license plate that was registered to a White Mercury Sable. Subsequently, the police initiated a traffic stop.
The individual in the vehicle was observed reaching around, prompting officers to request his exit from the vehicle. Providing the name “Wayne Brown,” the individual’s identity did not yield any match in police records. Subsequently, he was handcuffed, with officers anticipating at least an obstruction charge.
Upon further investigation, authorities identified the man as Chester Wayne Brown, 52, whose address remains unknown. During the search, police discovered methamphetamine, a pipe with residue, and a straw with residue. Brown was taken into custody, facing charges including felony possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia, misdemeanors for obstruction, possession of fictitious tags, driving without a license, and an outstanding out-of-town warrant.
In a separate incident, during a routine traffic stop between 9:24 AM and 10:24 AM on December 11, a man was apprehended in possession of alleged drug paraphernalia and was found to have an outstanding felony warrant from Pulaski County.
The incident unfolded when an officer observed a red car make a turn without using a signal. Prompted by this infraction, a traffic stop ensued. Upon inspection, law enforcement discovered a glass pipe containing suspected meth residue and a silver spoon also carrying suspected meth residue.
Richard Smith, a 50-year-old resident of Jonesboro, was taken into custody for possessing instruments of a crime and the outstanding felony warrant. Court records in Pulaski County show the warrant to be from a forgery case.
