JONESBORO, Ark. – A man accused of setting a house on fire was apprehended over the weekend in Jonesboro and added additional charge during his trip to jail.
Authorities responded to a structure fire on Dec. 10 in the 300-block of Wildwood, the incident report from JPD said. The suspect, known for previous incidents of setting fire to his residence, had been attended to by officers at the same location on Dec. 9 for a similar incident.
Upon arrival, officers detained the suspect and discovered he had two outstanding warrants in the city.
Fire marshals estimated the structural damage at over $100,000. During the firefighting operation, a glass pipe with residue inside was found.
Brandon Scott Worsham, 42, of Jonesboro, was arrested and transported to Craighead County Detention Center. During the ride, he allegedly made threats against an officer’s life and repeatedly mentioned having the officer shot. These actions resulted in an additional charge of felony terroristic threatening, alongside felony arson, revocation of probation, and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia.
Worsham declined to speak to a detective without his attorney present.
Appearing before Judge Tommy Fowler for a probable cause hearing, Worsham’s bond was set at $75,000 cash-only.
His next court appearance is scheduled for January 24, 2024.
