A vehicle stolen from a Craighead County woman was recovered after being found wrecked in a ditch in St. Francis County.
The theft was reported around 12:20 PM on July 30, at the 1400-block of Lakewood Drive, according to the Jonesboro Police Department (JPD). The female victim, 24, reported to the police that her vehicle was missing when she returned home around noon that day, after leaving at 1 AM.
Unfortunately, the woman’s apartment complex does not have security cameras, which could have aided in the investigation.
The victim also informed the police that her vehicle had been broken into by three black juveniles the previous Saturday, causing damage to the rear passenger window. She wasn’t certain if this was related to the theft.
The St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office later found the stolen vehicle wrecked in a ditch on the same day of the theft report. The victim was then informed about the location of her vehicle.
On Monday, the Forrest City Police Department contacted JPD to share that there was currently no suspect information in the case. However, a witness reportedly saw three black males wearing ski masks and backpacks exit the vehicle and run away on foot following the crash.
The investigation is still ongoing. Jonesboro police are seeking leads to further the case. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact JPD.
