JONESBORO, Ark. – A threat circulating on social media prompted extra security measures Monday at Westside schools.

A social media post said that a possible threat was circulated on social media involving Westside High School. The Craighead County Sheriff’s Department, school resource officers at the school and school administration were taking extra steps to ensure safety at the campuses.

As of about 10:30 AM, the school was still on a ‘soft lockdown’ status. The school later announced it was releasing from the soft lock down status at 12:15 PM. In an update posted to social media, the district said they believed they had identified the person responsible and located – off campus.

Last week, another Jonesboro school was forced to increase security in response to social media threats.
