Jonesboro neighborhood cleanups set for October

Two Jonesboro neighborhoods have scheduled fall cleanups, with a special emphasis on COVID safety, in partnership with several City of Jonesboro departments.

Fisher Street Community In Action will host the first cleanup, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the north parking lot of Fisher Street United Methodist Church, 301 N. Fisher St. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, please place items at the curb or remain in your vehicle and event personnel will remove the items from your vehicle.

Scenic Hills Neighborhood Association will host its fall cleanup a week later – 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 10 – based in the rear parking lot of Annie Camp Junior High, 1814 W. Nettleton Ave.

Items that may be dropped off include clothes, furniture (chairs, beds, couches, mattresses, TVs, computers, etc.), appliances (dryers, washers, stoves, microwaves, water heaters, freezers, A/C units and refrigerators with compressors and freon removed), bagged trash, empty paint cans, and tires.

Please do not bring hazardous materians such as oil, fluid, batteries or other flammable or corrosive materials; auto parts such as motors and transmissions; building and remodeling debris including lumber, concrete, drywall, carpet, bricks or landscaping material.

The new Jonesboro Beautification Commission and Keep Arkansas Beautiful will support both cleanups.
