
HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – Tragedy struck at Greers Ferry Lake late Monday/early Tuesday after a 17-year-old male drowned, according to the Heber Springs Fire Department.
At around 9:25 PM Monday, Heber Springs Fire and Survival Flight EMS responded to a report of a missing 17-year-old male near the Sandy Beach swim area of Greers Ferry Lake. The fire department immediately upgraded the call to a possible subsurface rescue and activated a “Lake Rescue Response” which automatically notifies members from Heber Springs Fire Dive Team, Cleburne County Search and Rescue and Arkansas Game and Fish officers.
After a methodical underwater search, divers recovered the body of the reported missing person, the press release posted to social media said.
The incident is still under investigation.
