INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, Ark. – An early-morning accident claimed a life Saturday in Independence County.
Early Saturday, Jaxson Bailey Steele, 20, of Swifton, was driving a 2019 Honda ATV west on Pageant Island Road in the Magness community. At 1:29 AM, Arkansas State Police’s crash summary report says the Honda slid off the roadway into a ditch.
The vehicle overturned. The report states that the driver was thrown from the ATV into the ditch as it flipped. The young man died in accident.
Weather conditions were cloudy but the roads were dry at the time of the accident, the reporting officer said. Sheriff Shawn Stephens was listed as the officer who completed the report.
