
POINSETT COUNTY, Ark. – An accident one at the scene described as terrible claimed the life of a young child Thursday afternoon in Poinsett County.
Now, a woman is facing charges that include negligent homicide.
The accident happened at 3:46 PM at Station Lane and Highway 308 in rural Poinsett County, according to the Arkansas State Police preliminary fatal crash summary. The vehicle, a 2006 Hyundai Elantra, was traveling northbound on Station Lane. It left the right side of the roadway and entered a ditch, rolling over. The car landed upside down in the ditch and was submerged in water.
A source at the scene said the young male child was in the backseat. Tragically, he drowned.
Shaina Lynn Revelle, 31, of Forrest City, was booked on a negligent homicide charge Thursday night in Poinsett County Jail. Our source said she was arrested at the scene for suspicion of DWI as well.
Arkansas State Police reported weather conditions clear and roadways dry at the time of the accident.
