Inmate back in custody after escape from work detail

PLEASANT PLAINS, Ark. – An inmate performing community service who escaped has been apprehended, according to the Independence County Sheriff’s Department. 

Matthew Thomas was taken into custody Friday morning by US Marshals in Granbury, Texas, the sheriff’s department reported. 

Thomas had previously last been seen at approximately 8:00 a.m.Wednesday. The Sheriff’s Department was notified a short time later that Thomas ran away from his assigned work detail.

Thomas was currently in custody for a Misdemeanor Probation Revocation Warrant.
