Five guns stolen in Cash burglary

CASH, Ark. – A major theft of guns from a man in Cash and a construction site thieves top the crime news from across Craighead County this week.

On at 6:30 PM Tuesday, August 13, Deputy Derek Phillips with Craighead County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 7400-block of Highway 91 in Cash. He arrived to speak with a man that got home that evening from work to find his home ransacked. He left that morning at 6:30 AM, meaning it had to be a daytime break-in.

All doors were open and several guns were taken along with about $150 in cash. It’s believed the suspects used the back door to get in, as it was unlocked and there were no signs of forced entry.

The guns stolen included: A Remington 1100 12 Ga. Blue Finish with a wood stock, a Browning 85 3″ 12 Ga. Blue Finish with a wood stock, a Benelli Superblack Eagle 2 12 Ga. Solid black with a synthetic stock, a Remington 700 243 12 Ga. Black finish with a Camo Stock, and an American Classic 1911 Blue finish with a wood grip and flared mag well. It was over $2,000 worth of firearms.

No suspect information was reported.


Work crews got to a job site on Highway 49 in Brookland early Wednesday to find thieves had already stolen some of their tools. The theft is thought to have happened between Tuesday at 3:20 PM and Wednesday at 6:50 AM. Employees from Clark Construction arrived at the job site and found $300 worth of extension cords plus a claw hammer missing.

There was a camera on site but it wasn’t certain if any suspect footage was captured during the theft.
