JONESBORO, Ark. – A fight at the Craighead County Jail resulted in the death of an inmate this weekend.
Little Joe Wilson, 40, of Jonesboro, passed away.
It began on Friday when some type of altercation between inmates broke out. An exact time has not been released. Sheriff Marty Boyd said one of the men was transported to St. Bernard’s after the fight. He died Friday evening, a few hours after arriving at the hospital.
The body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy.
By chance, this reporter was present at the hospital Friday evening as family members were devastated with the tragic news. The St. Bernard’s ER department was a chaotic scene as both inside and out, cries of grief and sorrow could be heard. An unrelated woman who was entering the hospital at this time broke down into tears at the mere sound of grieving relatives.
