Report alleges man fired gun in air after near-wreck

JONESBORO, Ark. – A Craighead County Sheriff’s Office report described felony terroristic threatening as the potential charge for a suspect accused of shooting a gun in the air during a traffic dispute.

At 9:21 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, Deputy James Watson was dispatched to meet with a woman who said about an hour earlier, she was at the intersection of County Roads 318 and 333 when a near-accident began the scary ordeal. She said she went to turn and at the same time, a white male with a brown beard in a red passenger car turned at the same time. The two nearly collided.

She went on to say that the male subject put a handgun out of the driver-side window and fired a shot from the gun into the air.

She said it didn’t seem like he was shooting at her.

The report indicated the suspect, 22, was known to authorities. His name was masked, as was the investigative narrative, when released to NEA Report on Monday morning.
