Drive-by shooters targeted home in front of off-duty ASU officer's

JONESBORO, Ark. – As the sun began to rise Tuesday morning, gun fire rang out in Jonesboro.

At 5:33 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, Jonesboro Police Department was dispatched to the 2500-block of Brooke McQueen after several shots were heard from the area. They met with an off duty ASU Police Department Officer who reported the incident, which happened in front of his home. The target was across the street. Police then went across the street and met who had been in the home when bullets ripped through the front of the home from the roadway.

As debris flew across the television, one of the victims in the home said he dropped to the floor and rushed to the bathroom.

The gunfire came from a vehicle parked in front of the house, detectives determined, as they combed the street and yard for shell casings and other evidence.

The incident report masked several suspects’ names. An 18 year old male and 20 year old male were both being examined as possibly being involved in the crime.

The perpetrators face felony terroristic act charges along with the possibility of other charges associated with the devious act.

Anyone with information about the case may call Jonesboro Crime Stoppers at 935-7867 (935-STOP.)

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the off-duty ASU officer’s home was the target of the gunfire. The target was across the road from the off-duty officer, who made the initial complaint and then made contact with the victims. Due to his address, along with several others, being redacted in the report, we incorrectly listed him as a victim when he was not. NEA Report regrets the error.
