Arson reported at abandoned home near Bono

BONO, Ark. – A Walcott woman said someone burned down her old home place in Craighead County sometime in the past week.

The report was made at 3 p.m. Monday, July 17, with Craighead County Sheriff’s Office. A woman said her old abandoned house at the 1000-block of Craighead CR 304 had been burned between July 13 and July 16. She said she noticed it while on the way to church on Sunday.

The woman said some hay was blocking the driveway but there wasn’t understood to be a reason why. No fire crews were ever dispatched to the location.

Several trees were damaged when the house “burnt down,” the report said, indicating it was a total loss.

Anyone with information may contact Crime Stoppers at (870) 935-7867 (935-STOP.)

  1. From the description of the fire and location, this sounds like a fire my department was called to on Sunday night, 7/9/17 at 10:36 pm. It was a mobile home and was totally involved when we arrived. Due to the total amount of destruction, we were not able to determine the cause of the fire. We spent 3 hours on the scene to be sure everything was out before we left.
