BONO, Ark. – A man who was allegedly angry over a dispute involving tools was said to have assaulted a woman over 20 years his elder, a Craighead County Sheriff’s Office report said.
At 4:14 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Deputy Mike Lawrence was dispatched to the 1700-block of County Road 380 in reference to an assault. He made contact with a woman, 60, who said the suspect, Aaron Scott Britt, 39, of Paragould, had come to her residence and assaulted both her and her son.
She said she was saying her farewells to her son outside of her home after a Sunday visit with family when Britt pulled up in a silver GMC pickup at about 4 p.m. The woman said she approached him to tell him to leave the property and he shoved her down. Britt then allegedly attacked the woman’s son, attempting to strike him in the face several times (but not making contact).
The son told deputies he and Britt were in a dispute over several tools of the son’s – a previous employee of Britt. He said he had been trying to recover his tools from Britt when he parted ways with his company.
As Britt was leaving, the report said he threw a clamp meter valued at $200 in the road and ran over it.
Several witness statements were filed. Britt could face charges of second degree assault and second degree criminal mischief if a prosecutor decides to pursue misdemeanor charges over the incident.
