Suspected meth dealer arrested at Jonesboro hotel

JONESBORO, Ark. – A man police said was offering to sell balls and half-balls of meth was arrested at Days Inn on Thursday.

Shortly after 6 p.m., Investigator Jason Chester with the Street Crimes Unit was joined by other officers after receiving information that a man was in possession of half of an ounce of crystal methamphetamine. The suspect was Rockey Kelley, 41, of Trumann.

Investigators made contact with Kelley at room #229. After knocking, and waiting approximately two to three minutes, Kelley opened the door. A probation search of the room was conducted. Kelley’s wife and approximately 7-year-old son were also in the room, Chester noted.

A glass meth pipe was found in the tissue container in the sink counter, the police report said. While going through Kelley’s phone, Chester reported finding numerous text messages with people “where he is offering to sell a ball (3.5g) or a half-ball (1.75g) of meth.

He was transported to Craighead County Detention Center on a possession of felony paraphernalia charge. He bonded out at 9:03 p.m. Friday night.
