JONESBORO, Ark. – A bad break-up between two Jonesboro women resulted in a fight and a vehicle being stabbed.
At 11 p.m. Sunday night, Jonesboro police officer Christopher Taylor was dispatched with others to a disturbance with weapons call to the 1000-block of Warner Avenue. The police arrived and spoke with the couple who had broken up. The female complainant, 30, said she had a break-up with Courtney R. Smith, 37, of Jonesboro. Her report said she arrived at the house she shared with her ex when Smith tried to attack her. She left and returned with a witness. That’s when, on Father’s Day, the complainant said Smith told her she wished she had died instead of her Dad.
Smith then allegedly slapped the complainant, the report said, who returned the slap. At this point, Smith brought a knife into the dispute and followed the alleged victim to her vehicle. The alleged victim was starting to drive off when she said Smith stabbed her driver’s side. A large hole was observed on the driver side where the knife had punctured, the officer reported.
Smith was arrested for second degree assault on family or household members, a misdemeanor. She was arrested and searched by a female officer before being transported to Craighead County Detention Center. The knife was logged into evidence.
