Crawford reacts to Trump's budget proposal

WASHINGTON, D.C. – It does not appear Congressman Rick Crawford completely agrees with the budget proposal by President Donald Trump.

After the release of President Trump’s budget proposal Tuesday morning, Congressman Rick Crawford (AR-01) released the following statement. In it, he seemed to appreciate addressing the national debt and prioritizing military funding but Crawford specifically took issue with some of the “severe cuts” in Trump’s budget.

“President Trump’s budget proposal finally addresses our growing national debt while still prioritizing our armed forces, which currently face a readiness crisis after years of neglect,” Crawford said. “However, the severe cuts to USDA programs don’t fully consider the current state of rural economies and the significant savings already generated by the last farm bill. As the House of Representatives builds upon the Administration’s budget blueprint, I will work with my colleagues on the House Agriculture Committee to advocate for producers and other programs vitally important to rural economies and a safe, reliable food source in the United States.”

Crawford serves on the House Agriculture Committee as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management as well as on the Subcommittee on Nutrition.
