Two fugitives arrested after officer recognizes them in vehicle

JONESBORO, Ark. – Two people with warrants for arrest out of the City of Jonesboro and Craighead County were picked up Thursday and it was all because an observant officer noticed them while on patrol.

At about 6:36 p.m. Thursday, April 13, Jonesboro Police Officer Alex Duncan noticed a black Chrysler PT Cruiser pass by her with both a driver and passenger inside she knew to have active warrants through the city. She stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Rains and Nettleton and detained both while awaiting confirmation of the warrants.

Lori Bullock, 21, of Jonesboro, was identified as the driver. Dispatch advised she had two failure to appear warrants out of the city. The passenger was Maurice A. Torres, 21, of Jonesboro, and he was identified as an active probationer, an absconder, and with warrant for his arrest out of the county.

Both were transported to 209 East Nettleton, Apartment 218, to conduct a probation search of the residence. Several marijuana pipes, a grinder, and a green glass methamphetamine pipe were found in the master bedroom. The report says Bullock claimed ownership of all the drug items.

Both suspects were then taken to Craighead County Detention Center. Bullock was booked to face charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, and a felony charge by the same name – for the marijuana pipe and meth pipe respectively. Torres is being held to face charges for a felony FTA bench warrant, absconding, and a probation violation.
