Hosting A-State International Students at Thanksgiving

JONESBORO – The Office of Residence Life at Arkansas State University is helping find host families for international students at Thanksgiving.

“Residence Life is inviting faculty and staff to participate in a Thanksgiving week activity that benefits some of the students who are far from home while allowing A-State faculty and staff an opportunity to demonstrate some Red Wolves hospitality,” said Casi Crawford, international liaison in Residence Life.

Because travel to home countries is usually not practical during the holiday break, most international students remain on campus.

“I encourage families to ‘adopt’ one or more international students to invite to your home for a nice, warm Thanksgiving meal.  I can assure you the international student(s) will be very appreciative of your efforts, while you and your family will be treated to some very unique perspectives regarding another culture,” she added.

Interested families may contact Crawford at the Office of Residence Life, cacrawford@AState.edu or (870) 972-2042, as quickly as possible so appropriate information can be exchanged in advance between the student and the host family.
