Man reports he was kidnapped by men with an AR-15

JONESBORO, Ark. – A man who said he just got out of prison reported a harrowing ordeal to police Saturday night.

Shortly after 9 p.m., police were dispatched to the 402 Garden Manor Road, apartment D. The man said two suspects tried to kidnap him earlier that evening, at about 6 p.m., while he was walking down the street to the store on North Church Street. He said at the intersection of Center Street, a white Ford Expedition rolled up and two men began demanding he get into the car.

The man said one of the men pulled an “AR-15 type” gun out and demanded the alleged victim get into the vehicle. The man claims he grabbed the barrel of the gun but was punched in the head with brass knuckles. The officer did observe a cut on the back of his head.

Against his will, the man said he got into the vehicle and was then ordered to give his money up. The man said he gave $335.00 in cash and later got out of the vehicle at Kum & Go, 2028 North Church Street in Jonesboro.

The man believed the suspects wanted to harm him because they believe he broke into one of the suspects residence. This is why the man told the officer he could not have done it, since he was in prison for the past year. The two reportedly also had problems via Facebook.

Police began investigating the incident Monday.

Kidnapping, aggravated robbery and first degree battery are felony charges the suspects could face if authorities find the man’s claims to be founded.
