WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – Tornado siren tests soon will begin in Walnut Ridge.
The Walnut Ridge Fire department will begin testing tornado sirens on the first Thursday of each month at Noon, provided the weather is clear, according to the City of Walnut Ridge’s Facebook page.
This will begin on Thursday Nov. 3.
The test will only last a few minutes and, as mentioned, will not be performed if the weather is not clear.
New Airport Siren
The new siren going into the airport was also expected to be ordered Wednesday. The pole and some other equipment were already available, Mayor Charles Snapp told NEA Report.
“Hopefully, we’ll never need it,” Snapp said. “That’s the strange thing about buying this type of equipment. It’s one of those things you hope you never use.”
