Oct. 29 – Pupkin Fest gets the pets into the spirit

JONESBORO, Ark. – Even the pets can get into the Halloween fun.

A Pupkin Fest for the ALFA (A Love For Animals) rescue will be on Saturday, October 29 in Jonesboro to raise money to feed the dogs and do heartworm treatment on their heartworm positive dogs. It will be held at a residential location which is specially equipped for the task – 4101 Stadium Boulevard in Jonesboro.

There will be pumpkin carving and decorating – including a contest for who gets the most creative. Face painting, games galore and even fall photos will also be part of the fun.

“Dress your pets, kids, and yourselves up in a costume!” ALFA’s page says. “One of our volunteer’s dogs went as a lion last year!”

ALFA Secretary Charolette Duncan said it isn’t on the flyer, but dogs will also be up for adoption at the event.

“We try to target all ages to bring in families, which is why we have such a variety of activities planned,” Duncan said. “We also hope to have a demonstration scheduled with a K9 officer from JPD.”

Cost is $10 for admission, per carload, $10 for photos and $2 for popcorn. The monies raised might just save the life of an animal in need.

The event page on Facebook can be located here.
