
JONESBORO, Ark. – A vehicle accident on Johnson Avenue in Jonesboro sent an officer to a Memphis hospital Thursday.
A Jonesboro Police Officer was injured in a vehicle accident at approximately 5:22 P.M. when his patrol unit overturned as he was driving a prisoner to the jail. The accident occurred on Johnson Ave. near Culberhouse Street.
The prisoner fled the scene and was apprehended a short time later according to a news release from JPD Community Outreach Officer, Sgt. Cassandra Brandon.
The officer was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Jonesboro Fire Department. He was flown to a Memphis hospital.
His identity is being held until his family is notified. The prisoner is being treated at a local hospital. The cause of the accident is still under investigation at this time.
