PARAGOULD, Ark. – So many four-legged friends rely on humans for their care and a group in Paragould who helps fur babies is asking for the public to offer a helping hand – or paw – to them.
Paragould Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) recently sustained major water damage to the ceiling and it could not have happened at a worse time. The group was in the middle of major renovations, said Brittany Casey, marketing agent for PAWS. Then, with torrential downpours from earlier in the year, the group found themselves facing a major setback.
“Insurance has decided to take care of replacing the tiles and surrounding flooring, but the deductible is $1000, and that is just not in the budget,” Casey said.
Casey created a fundraiser for the group at GoFundMe, located here, with hopes to raise $2,000 to meet the deductible and make necessary repairs to the ceiling. However, with renovations happening, the group also has hopes for generosity to allow even more needed fixes to happen.
“We are also hoping to raise funds to fix all the flooring throughout the shelter,” Casey said. “It is worn and torn due to heavy traffic and animals.”
Although the flooring is unsightly, Casey said the ceiling must be fixed immediately and is their top priority.
“Every donation means so much to everyone at PAWS, as well as the animals we are rescuing,” Casey said. “With every cent raised, it means that much more we can save for the shelter animals.”
As of this publishing, $450 had been donated so far to the cause but much more is still needed. To help the group out, click here to visit their fundraiser.
