WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – County Judge Dale Freeman said the three percent raise approved by the Quorum Court Monday needs to be put on an official agenda before it is passed and goes into effect.
He was prepared to veto the measure Tuesday afternoon and even had the veto written up, he told NEA Report. However, Freeman said County Clerk Tina Stowers was already aware of the misunderstanding and had placed the raise for all county employees on the agenda for July’s quorum court meeting.
The measure must also pass a third vote following July’s meeting, although the county may opt to pass it in an emergency vote.
Freeman has also asked for a measure to return quorum court meetings to 7 p.m. to be added to the agenda.
