Texas Fugitive Wanted On Child Sex Abuse Warrant Arrested In Izard County

MELBOURNE, Ark. — A Melbourne man wanted in Texas on a child sex abuse warrant was arrested this week in Izard County, according to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office.

David Charles Jones, 55, was taken into custody April 9 after deputies were notified by the Arkansas State Police that Jones was wanted out of Montague County, Texas, on a warrant for sexual abuse of a child. The warrant was issued March 31, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities received information that Jones might be traveling in a Chevrolet truck on Highway 9 south of Melbourne.

Deputies responded to the area and located the vehicle near Twin Creek, the sheriff’s office said. The truck later turned onto Mt. Olive Road, where deputies conducted a traffic stop.

Jones was detained without incident while deputies waited for Arkansas State Police agents to arrive and confirm the warrant, according to the release.

After the warrant was confirmed, Jones was arrested and taken to the Izard County Jail, where he is being held pending extradition to Montague County, Texas.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
