Woman Arrested After Nearly $824 in Merchandise Reported Stolen From Ulta

JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect was arrested after police say nearly $824 in merchandise was taken during a shoplifting incident at Ulta on East Highland Drive.

According to the Jonesboro Police Department, an officer began investigating a theft report on March 10 related to an incident that occurred on March 2 at the store.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage that reportedly showed two females entering Ulta around 1:35 p.m. and concealing a Dyson hair styling product.

Police said one suspect, later identified as Jennifer Nicole Phillips, 41, initially carried the box containing the product before a juvenile removed the item from the packaging. Phillips then placed the empty box back on a shelf while the juvenile stretched across store aisles and placed the product on another shelf.

Both suspects walked away as if they were looking for witnesses. According to the report, the juvenile was seen placing a watch in her purse and giving Phillips a thumbs-up.

Police said Phillips then concealed the Dyson hair styling product in her purse and adjusted it before leaving the store without paying.

The total value of merchandise taken was reported as $823.99.

During the investigation, officers determined Phillips had previously been convicted of theft of property in 2019.

Phillips was later arrested and booked on a charge of theft of property $1,000 or less — second offense, a Class D felony.

District Judge Tommy Fowler set Phillips’ bail at $5,000 cash or surety, noting she had been arrested the day before and had a prior theft conviction. Her next court date is April 23.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
