JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect was arrested Sunday after police say a disturbance involving multiple people on Cedar Heights Drive left one man stabbed and another person injured.
According to the Jonesboro Police Department, on March 15, officers responded to multiple disturbance calls involving Joseph Riley, 39, and other parties in the area.
When officers arrived around 2:10 p.m., they were called to the north end of Cedar Heights Drive where a victim had been stabbed in the leg.
Witnesses told officers that Riley pushed a woman to the ground. When another victim came to defend her, Riley allegedly stabbed the man with a pocket knife.
Police reported locating a bloody pocket knife on the ground at the scene.
The man who was stabbed and the woman who was pushed down were both transported to a hospital for treatment.
Riley was arrested and booked on charges of second-degree battery, a Class D felony, and second-degree assault, a Class B misdemeanor.
District Judge Tommy Fowler set Riley’s bail at $25,000 and issued a no-contact order, noting in court records that Riley is on probation and a habitual offender. His next court date is May 18.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
