Harrisburg Shooting Leaves Man in Critical Condition, Suspect Arrested

POINSETT COUNTY, Ark. — The Poinsett County 911 Center received a 911 call at approximately 10:03 a.m. reporting that a man had been shot in Harrisburg.

Poinsett County Deputies and Harrisburg Police Officers responded to the scene and located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies and officers immediately began administering first aid until medical personnel arrived. The victim was later airlifted to a Memphis hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

The Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office and Harrisburg Police Department quickly began working together to identify and locate the individual responsible for the shooting. At approximately 1:10 p.m., the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

At this time, investigators believe the suspect acted alone, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

This remains a fluid and active investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available by the Harrisburg Police Department.

The quick response and cooperation between the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office and the Harrisburg Police Department was instrumental in bringing the situation under control and ensuring the safety of the community.
