Crittenden County Jury Convicts Roy Allen Myers of Child Sex Crimes, Sentences Him to 31 Years

Marion, Arkansas — Prosecuting Attorney Sonia Hagood announced that, following a two-day jury trial in Crittenden County, Roy Allen Myers was convicted of one count of rape of a minor child, one count of sexual solicitation of a child, and one count of sexual indecency with a child. The jury recommended, and the court imposed, a total sentence of thirty-one (31) years in the Arkansas Department of Correction.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys Michael Snell and Adam Holman. Circuit Judge Tonya Alexander presided over the trial and imposed the sentence recommended by the jury.

“This case reflects the courage it takes for a child to come forward and disclose abuse, particularly when the disclosure occurs years after the abuse took place,” said Deputy Prosecutor Michael Snell. “Delayed disclosures are not unusual in child abuse cases. Our office takes these cases extremely seriously, and offenders should know that we are not afraid to take these cases to trial and allow a jury of their peers to decide the outcome.”

The Second Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s Office extended its appreciation to the West Memphis Police Department for its work investigating the case and for its commitment to protecting children in the community. The office also expressed sincere gratitude to the jurors who served and carefully considered the evidence, including difficult and heartbreaking testimony, to reach a just verdict.
