CORNING, Ark. — A Missouri suspect has been arrested after authorities say a pharmacy employee stole more than $25,000 from a business in Corning.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, deputies began investigating the case on Feb. 9, 2026, after receiving a call from Dennis Cate, owner of Cates Pharmacy in Corning. Cate requested assistance from law enforcement regarding an employee suspected of stealing money from the business.
Deputies met later that afternoon with Cate at the office of CPA Michael Vinson in Corning, where they were briefed on the findings of an internal review and the process being used to determine the total amount of missing funds. Investigators advised the business to continue reviewing receipts and financial records and to contact the sheriff’s department once the available documentation had been examined so additional records could be subpoenaed if necessary.
On March 6, investigators requested an arrest warrant for Katlyn Marie Grimaldo, 28, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Authorities contacted Grimaldo on March 9 and asked her to come to the sheriff’s department for an interview. According to the sheriff’s department, Grimaldo initially declined until she was informed that Clay County authorities could coordinate with Butler County to contact her at her workplace. She then agreed to come to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies said Grimaldo was advised of her Miranda rights before being questioned about discrepancies in receipts connected to the investigation. During the interview, she requested an attorney and indicated she intended to leave. Deputies then informed her that a warrant had been issued for her arrest.
Grimaldo was taken into custody and booked into the Clay County Detention Center on a charge of theft of property greater than $25,000.
District Judge Curtis Hitt set Grimaldo’s bond at $75,000.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
