PARAGOULD, Ark. — A suspect has been arrested after police say he attacked a woman outside her vehicle despite an existing order of protection.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Paragould Police Department, officers responded Feb. 28, 2026, at approximately 1:16 a.m. to the Pecan Grove area regarding an unknown problem. When officers arrived, they made contact with the alleged victim, who was described as physically and emotionally distraught.
The alleged victim told officers the defendant, Delain J. Washington, 44, arrived and began attacking her after she exited her vehicle. During the altercation, the alleged victim struck Washington, who reportedly spit blood on her before leaving the area.
A resident of the alleged victim’s home and a neighbor provided statements that corroborated the incident, according to the affidavit.
The alleged victim also told officers Washington dropped his phone during the attack. Officers recovered the phone at the scene, and a later search warrant confirmed it belonged to Washington.
Authorities said the alleged victim has an order of protection against Washington that was served in July 2025. Since being served, Washington has been arrested twice for violating the order of protection involving the same victim. Investigators also noted the alleged victim has filed multiple reports since September 2025 alleging Washington violated the order.
Washington is charged with first-degree stalking, a Class B felony, and violation of an order of protection, a Class D felony.
Judge Curtis Hitt set Washington’s bond at $150,000 cash or surety. Court records show he is required to wear an ankle monitor and is prohibited from possessing weapons.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
