Suspect Arrested After Allegedly Threatening Victim With Knife During Jonesboro Domestic Dispute

JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect was arrested after police say a domestic disturbance escalated into a threat involving a knife, according to an affidavit.

Kenyatta N. Smith, 44, of Jonesboro, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony.

According to the probable cause affidavit, officers responded March 5, 2026, to the 600 block of Gladiolus Drive regarding a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, they observed Smith and the alleged victim engaged in a verbal argument.

After the parties were separated, the alleged victim told officers the dispute began in the kitchen when she bumped into Smith, who refused to move.

The alleged victim further reported that Smith then brandished a steak knife, held it above her shoulder, and threatened to kill the victim, according to the affidavit.

Special Judge Barbara Halsey set Smith’s bail at $75,000 cash or surety and issued a no-contact order. Smith’s next court date is scheduled for April 23.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
