Suspect Accused of Injuring Officer While Fleeing in Paragould Arrested

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A suspect accused of injuring an officer while attempting to flee arrest was taken into custody after officers located him in a vehicle in Paragould.

Jeritt L. Wimberley, 25, was arrested on two counts of second-degree battery, both Class D felonies. He also faces charges of fleeing, a Class D felony, along with misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and obstructing governmental operations.

According to the probable cause affidavit, officers received a tip on Oct. 29, 2025, about a wanted person believed to be inside a vehicle parked at Hay’s #10.

Officers approached the vehicle and recognized the passenger as Wimberley, the affidavit states. When officers made contact, Wimberley reportedly provided a false name.

Authorities said officers asked Wimberley to exit the vehicle and attempted to place him in handcuffs. During the process, investigators say he began resisting.

According to the affidavit, Wimberley then shoved an officer to the ground and fled on foot. Two officers were injured during the encounter, with one officer sustaining a serious leg injury.

Wimberley was arrested on Feb. 26, 2026, on the listed charges and booked into jail.

Jail records show bail was set at $50,000 cash or surety.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
