Jonesboro Suspect Held on $5 Million Bond in Belt Street Fatal Shooting

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro suspect is being held on a $5 million bond after a fatal shooting Wednesday in the 2100 block of Belt Street, according to court records and a probable cause affidavit.

Jonesboro police were dispatched to the 2100 block of Belt Street on Feb. 25, 2026, in response to a reported shooting. When officers arrived, witnesses identified Christian Rene Mcgee, whose date of birth is listed as Oct. 16, 2001, as the shooting suspect. Mcgee confirmed to officers that he was the shooter and was taken into custody, according to the affidavit.

Officers discovered a deceased victim outside Mcgee’s apartment who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as Robert Blaze Larson, 23, described as a neighbor of the suspect.

According to the affidavit, Mcgee told officers during a Mirandized interview that he and Larson had been involved in an argument outside his apartment. The argument ended and Larson began walking away, but Mcgee said he yelled an insult, causing Larson to turn around and walk back toward him.

Mcgee told investigators he returned to his apartment and shut the door. He said Larson attempted to get him to come outside. Mcgee admitted to grabbing his firearm, unlocking and opening his door, and firing at Larson.

Investigators state Mcgee further admitted that after Larson fell to the ground, he continued to shoot him in the back.

Mcgee, 24, of Jonesboro, was booked into the Craighead County Detention Center at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of first-degree murder.

On Friday, Judge David Boling set Mcgee’s bond at $5 million cash or surety, with a requirement for a GPS ankle monitor if he is released.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
