Jonesboro Woman Arrested After Police Find Three Young Children Home Alone

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman is facing multiple felony charges after police say three young children were found alone inside a residence during an early-morning welfare check.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the Jonesboro Police Department responded around 5:23 a.m. on Feb. 2, 2026, to a 911 call at a residence on N. Caraway Road. Dispatch advised that the caller reported a child was home alone and that the child’s parents were “gone.” While units were en route, a second 911 call was received from the same address.

When police arrived, repeated knocks at the front door went unanswered, though a child could be heard crying inside. The front door was locked, but entry was made through a back door that was unlocked.

Inside the residence, police reported seeing a small child, estimated to be between 1 and 2 years old, sitting on a couch near a spilled cup. The affidavit states the child walked through the home as if attempting to locate a parent or adult. While checking the residence, two additional children, believed to be between the ages of 2 and 5, were found asleep in a back bedroom. No parent or adult was located inside the home.

The children’s mother was identified as Tyliah Andrews, 22, of Jonesboro. Police made contact with Andrews by phone, and she told officers she was at a Links apartment with friends and believed her nephew was supposed to be watching the children.

After being advised to return to the residence, Andrews arrived at approximately 7:05 a.m. and was taken into custody.

Andrews is charged with three counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, Class D felonies. Bail was set at $2,500 cash or surety. She is scheduled to return to court on March 20.

Police said Andrews was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center, and the Arkansas Department of Human Services removed all three children found inside the residence, according to the affidavit.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
