Jonesboro Woman Arrested on Aggravated Assault Charge After Domestic Disturbance

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman has been arrested on a felony charge following a domestic disturbance investigation involving a vehicle.

Latavia Harris, 27, was arrested by the Jonesboro Police Department and charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Officers responded Jan. 30 to an address on Greenbrook Circle in reference to a domestic disturbance in progress. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the alleged victim, who was standing in the roadway.

The alleged victim told officers she shares a child with Harris and that Harris came to her place of work earlier that day. The alleged victim said a verbal altercation occurred at that location.

According to the affidavit, the alleged victim later showed officers a video on her phone that appeared to show Harris driving toward her in a vehicle. The alleged victim stated Harris drove toward her, causing her to move out of the way to avoid being struck, then backed up and drove toward her again. The alleged victim also told officers that Harris chased her in the vehicle.

The alleged victim said Harris was angry after seeing that she had a girlfriend or female at her residence when the alleged victim wanted to get back together.

Officers spoke with a neighbor who reported being awakened by knocking and a doorbell ringing. The neighbor said she looked outside and did not see anyone, but later observed a vehicle across the street. She stated she saw someone go in and out of a residence and then saw a vehicle drive toward an individual standing in front of a driveway.

Police said the witness’s statement matched the alleged victim’s account of events.

Harris was taken into custody and transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.

Bail was set at $5,000. Harris’ next court date is scheduled for March 20.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
