JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro man is facing a felony charge after police say he was caught on surveillance video entering a closed business and taking items from inside.
John Michael Jenkins, 21, is charged with commercial burglary, a Class C felony, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Jonesboro Police Department.
Officers responded Jan. 29 to an alarm call at a business located at 2920 E. Highland Drive. Police noted the business is not a 24-hour store and was closed at the time of the alarm.
While en route, officers were notified that security cameras had captured footage of a male inside the store. Officers obtained a description of the suspect and later located Jenkins approximately one mile east of the business.
Police reported Jenkins was found in possession of a Red Bull can and a 5-Hour Energy bottle.
Officers returned to the business and spoke with management. Surveillance footage reportedly showed Jenkins forcefully pulling open the front door, entering the closed store, removing a Red Bull can and a 5-Hour Energy bottle, and then leaving the area.
Judge David Boling set Jenkins’ bond at $2,500. His next court date is scheduled for March 20.
Court records show Jenkins is currently on a 12-month suspended sentence stemming from July 2025 possession charges out of Craighead County.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
