$500,000 Cash-Only Bond for Walnut Ridge Homicide Suspect

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. — The suspect in a Walnut Ridge homicide investigation appeared in court for his 8.1 hearing on Monday.

Logan Ashler Rentz, 25, of Walnut Ridge, appeared before Judge Alex Bigger on Monday. Court documents show Rentz faces one charge of second-degree murder, a Class A felony. Bail was set at $500,000 cash-only with an order for a GPS ankle monitor.

The probable cause affidavit filed by Detective Aaron Moore with the Walnut Ridge Police Department states that on January 16, WRPD responded to a report of an unconscious male at Main Street Pizza, 205 West Main Street.

Officers arrived to find several people in the rear parking lot, including one performing CPR on an unconscious male lying on the ground. EMS arrived on scene and transported the male, Shannon Fisher, to Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge. Fisher passed away at the hospital.

Video surveillance captured at least some of the altercation. Authorities said the video showed Rentz pushing the victim to the ground and then stomping on him at least one time while he was lying on the ground.

“As a result, Logan Rentz’s actions were the proximate cause of Shannon’s death,” Detective Moore wrote.

On January 17, officers interviewed Rentz. The affidavit says he admitted to his involvement in the altercation.

No mugshot was available for the suspect as of this publication.

Court records show Rentz previously pleaded guilty to battery against a law enforcement officer in 2020. He was sentenced to 36 months of probation in that case.
